BIO
By day Attorney at law, by night a law unto himself.
Garry aka Fumbi originally hails from the forgotten land of Rhodesia. Always having a passion for music he received his first guitar at age 4. Unfortunately he initially used the little instrument to hit friends and family with, rather than for what it was intended but gradually the instrument tamed the young beast (as it does) and his love for the guitar as a tool of menace became a love for the sounds which it could produce.
Having close friends of like enthusiasm for music and musical instruments growing up, Garry was exposed to a variety of options, but to him, no option was as attractive as the option of the bass guitar. A relationship was born.
A late starter in Durban’s music scene, Garry joined his first band “Porcelain Truck Drivers” in 2001. The band moved from strength to strength as did his self taught style on the bass. Playing to packed venues and festival crowds, Garry soon realised that it wasn’t only the love of playing that drove him and motivated him, but it was also and possibly mainly, the love of playing to a crowd that captivated him.
His influences range from the more grunge and old seattle sounds of Mud Honey, Soundgarden,Temple of the Dog, and Pearl Jam to the more intense and heavy sounds of his ultimate heroes, Korn, Deftones, and Tool.
